Security
Councils

Introduction

The Security Council is tasked with maintaining international peace and security. It is unique in that it has the power to impose sanctions, authorize military action, and make binding decisions that member states must follow. The SC has 15 members, five of which are permanent (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States) with veto power. In PASMUN, Security Council committees often simulate crisis situations or real-world conflicts, requiring delegates to engage in intense negotiations to find solutions.
